Banteay Chhmar community-based tourism (CBT) is a group of villagers in Banteay Chhmar commune, northwestern Cambodia, offering unique local experiences such as homestays, cultural activities, and tours.
The CBT group provides jobs to local community members while support the preservation the cultural and natural heritage. Moreover, it creates a bond between visitors, tour operators, villagers, and local and national authorities.
All revenues generated through the CBT services stays within the local community, and support
- incomes for villagers by providing tourism services
- a local fund to support operating expenses and
- funding to develop community-wide projects such as a solid waste management project, water filter project and library.
